Die legendäre, 2003 im schwedischen Borlänge gegründete Metal-Band meldet sich fünf Jahre nach «Worship Or Die» mit einem brandneuen Studioalbum zurück. Nach bisher nun neun veröffentlichten Alben wollten die Jungs unbedingt ein zehntes, ihr Jubiläumsalbum aufnehmen.
Die Band entschied sich, das Album «The End Of It All» zu nennen, als Reflexion darüber, wie es in der Welt heute aussieht und auch, um irgendwie zu sagen, dass dies vielleicht das letzte Album in der Karriere der ASTRAL DOORS sein könnte. Die Aufnahmen zu «The End Of It All» fanden wieder einmal im heimischen Borlänge statt, und die Band fand dabei die Inspiration und Kreativität, der Welt ein neues klassisches ASTRAL DOORS Album zu präsentieren. Nils Patrik Johanssons Texte und Gesangsmelodien sind dabei über jeden Zweifel erhaben, so wie es bei Ihm schon immer der Fall war. Und was hat er in diesem Jahr schon alles auf den Markt gebracht, nebenbei... Riffora, und ein neues Lion's Share Album. Darüber hinaus beweisen die beiden Songwriter Johan Lindstedt und Joachim Nordlund einmal mehr, dass sie genau das richtige Gespür dafür haben, wie eingängiger Heavy Metal zu klingen hat.
Los geht es mit «Temple of Lies» eine Up-Tempo Nummer, welche mit Riffs und dezentem Keyboard, sowie natürlich einer genialen Hookline von Nils direkt in die Gehörgänge prescht. Auch im nächsten Song «Iron Dome» muss das Songwriting und das Arrangement der Gitarristen unterstrichen werden. Ein Song voller Dynamik. Genial! Als nächstes folgt die zweite Single Auskopplung «Vikings Rise». Hier ebenfalls eine durchdachte Songstruktur. Im Hintergrund begleiten Hammond Orgeln den Sound, mit einem kurzen Solo von Jocke Roberg. Mit «Heaven's Gate sorgt die Band bei mir Gänsehaut Momente... Nils Patrick Johannson's charismatische und einzigartige Stimme, sowie das zweistimmige Gitarren Solo... Ich könnte über jeden einzelnen Song so weiter schreiben. Man kommt ins schwärmen... Mein Fazit: Kaufen, kaufen, kaufen!!! Und ich hoffe inständigst, dass «The End of it All» nichts mit einem Ende von ASTRAL DOORS zu tun haben könnte...
